It is time to jump on the Tampa mindset and use cap loopholes. Buyouts are non-existant anymore, as LTIR retirement is all the rage. Give OV 8 years at 5M AAV. He can simply LTIR retire at any point in time and you get that nice low AAV. It used to be that guys on LTIR still had to travel, train, and show up to meetings in hopes of getting back in game shape. Add the word retirement to it, and you can simply walk away with your full salary. Until this issue is addressed, why not take full advantage of it?

LTIR retire. That's a new one. A player just can't LTIR retire when he's ready to stop playing. He has to have a legit documented medical issue to be placed on LTIR. The league can also at anytime challenge this and ask for a non-party second medical opinion on a player.
Can you provide an example of a player who LITR retired?
